If you only ever looked on Instagram you’d think practising yoga was a serene experience.
But anyone who’s taken part in an actual yoga class (and felt a bead of sweat drip from *down there* while doing a downward dog) will know, it’s not.
Yoga can be a sweaty, grunty mess, and that’s the reality which American photographer Jonah Sargent is hoping to capture in his coffee table book Faces Of Yoga.
In a video on his Kickstarter page (Jonah’s hoping to raise $2,500 – approx. £1,600 – to make this book a reality), Jonah explains: ‘This series is a reminder that we all look horrible when we do yoga… so we should immerse ourselves in it and forget the rest.’
The 25-year-old took pictures at hot yoga classes in Minnesota and Berlin.
Talking about how he chose the final images for the book, he explained: ‘I kept only the shots that made me feel the most uncomfortable.’
