In February 2010, at the urging of a friend, Jon Eischeid, a 50-year-old research scientist living in Longmont, decided to give Bikram’s hot yoga a try. At the time, he was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day and had been struggling for some years with adult onset diabetes.
I happened to be in that class on Eischeid’s first day. Since then, through his dedicated practice, Jon has become a well-seasoned yogi.
On his first day in class, Eischeid groaned, gasped for air and beat his chest in frustration. He was unable to remain still and relax even for a moment. Hot yoga is challenging.
