When it comes to standing out in the NBA, pro basketball players are increasingly going where no players has gone before. In some cases, that means hopping on the Paleo bandwagon. For others, it’s a low carb ketogenic diet targeted at rapid weight loss. And the latest for NBA players and pros such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, and Shaquille O’Neal is yoga, sometimes known as “bro yoga,” or Broga Yoga, according to the Los Angeles Times.
[A new study] indicated that there are 105 million ‘aspirational yogis’ in the U.S. and roughly half of those are men,” O’Neill said. “Based on current trends, we expect about 2 million men to take up yoga within the next year. With the adoption of yoga among professional male athletes, special-forces military training programs and police departments, men are gaining a greater understanding of yoga’s many benefits and beginning to participate in increased numbers.
In addition to embracing the benefits of yoga for guys, NBA players are increasingly believing in the power of good nutrition coupled with weight loss for enhancing their momentum on the court. For LeBron James, a Paleo low carb diet proved to be the answer, noted Us Weekly.
